New, local youth club needs support.

Indoor skating, musical productions, film making. Does this sound good to you? Well there is a great chance to indulge in some fun activities with other teenagers. This is somewhere you can socialise, learn new skills and just have a good time. Introducing, Peterborough’s newest youth centre.

The youth centre was given a six week trial to prove that it is exactly what Peterborough needs by negotiation with the churches in the city.  It is located down Long Causeway, next to the’ Orange shop’ but is only there till March the 27th unless they pass the trial. To do this they need your help. They need more members. The club has a capacity of 49 and is open to all 13-19 year olds. The activities run from 1pm to 4pm every Saturday.

The youth club did not advertise to avoid overcrowding, but people failed to notice the new beneficial addition to the city centre. They were half full for the first two weeks, however unfortunately only twelve people attended the club last Saturday. After this disappointing turn out they fear that they will not pass the six week trial.

‘I think it is a facility that really benefits young people. Hopefully that now it is a little more publicised, people will be able to see what they are missing out on.’

The members and the helpers at the club are hoping that it will decrease anti social behaviour around Peterborough on weekends, so it would be an awful shame is the club can not continue to do well.
