Facebook Survey

I asked some pupils and teachers at Sir Harry Smith Community College some questions about their own personal Facebook accounts…

I asked some people...
1) Do you have Facebook?
2) What do you use it for?
3) Do you have any friends on Facebook that you don’t actually know?

Most of the replies I got were yes, with only a few people not having Facebook accounts. The uses stated were; Keeping in contact with old friends, people at university or away in the army, family members that don’t live very close and you and you don’t get to see very often, The games and amusements provided on the site, Reminders for birthdays, see what people are doing on their status, meeting new people, discovering people you used to go to school with, emailing and quizzes. Some teachers make use of Facebook by keeping in contact with old students and seeing how they’re getting on.
Over half of the people that I asked said they had added people who they don’t actually know but don’t see the dangers in this because they believe everything the person is telling them, and think they are just meeting new people over an internet site. Yet, this is highly dangerous!
